I am hanging around here in the office with one of the aides on dispatch, we get a "Officer needs police assistance," technically a 10-18 (Officer Needs Immediate Assistance) We literally crap our pants, I grab a radio and call the police dispatch and the other calls them asking for a situation report and a welfare check on all the other aides, the chief and another officer are down there and everything seems to be alright. That was very scary.

I got to drive the Chief's car, well not actually drive it, I did get to back it up, the cool thing was he gave me the keys and told me to move it in case the fire engine wanted out, I moved it and there was a nice M-4 Carbine in the passenger seat. Oh yeah I guess someone started a fire in the hedgerow near the business complex and damaged some power lines, so when they went to the pine vault to shut it down turns out a nice group of africanized bees made their home in there so the fire department came in and smoked them out, they closed down the east horseshoe to do it, I was stuck on perimeter containment and such. After they chased the bees away and everything was ok, all traffic was open and everything was well. But I got to drive the Chief's car though. Thats the coolest.

I went through the pics with one of the parking aides and boy it was something, they all were surprised as to how they did and what they went through. The one I had to help with their breathing and had to stay with was shocked to see that she got a nice saturating spray, all along the forehead and across the mouth/nose. I told them they all did well though and that there was no shame in crying or the pain because thats what its supposed to do, otherwise they would not be getting it at all.

One of our supervisors wants to go through Tazer training with the PD sometime soon, and the wierd thing is that several aides want to go through with it, hell I would like to go though with it, just to see how it feels. Its all pain for like 2 or 5 seconds and thats it, a little soreness but no more pain, just depends on time, if you want a 2 second or "ride the lightning" full tilt. I remember a cop who liked to call his taser "Sparky" and how "Sparky" liked to make people 'happy' and share his happiness and play nicely with others. I like the cops here, they are freaking awesome. Like the ex-Ranger who tells us of his adventures in Panama, Grenada and Puerto Rico with the Bees, swamp blisters that leave your feet with holes all the way to the meat, and the ever interesting Spider Monkeys that can scare the crap out of a chalk of Rangers or Paratroopers.

I hurt my foot yesterday and today I am stuck in the office, my foot still kinda hurts, but I should be back to my regular self in no time. I was walking between some cars in a lot that has concrete dividers between the cars and I tripped over one, my ankle twisted funny and thats when the pain started, I had to call the unit to get me and take me back. Its alright now, although it hurts to walk a long time. I filled out accident forms and it was kind of intimidating. I dont like forms.

Well that was something, OC training was very interesting. We had 8 people and 3 of our supervisors go through it, overall the supervisors; who were supposed to raise morale by going first; literally took it the worst, they got each other pretty well and one of them had to call the fire dept because he had trouble breathing. And another of our new people had trouble breathing and fainted so we had to call the paramedics, I tell you it was like a warzone or something, people in agony and pain running around all over the place, but they did very well despite these oddities. One of the new ones almost had problems, but another employee and I calmed her down and had her go though decon, I had to talk to her the whole time so we would not have any problems, she didnt want me to leave her side so I stayed with her talking trying to make light of the situation, but she was alright. I was actually planning on going through with it, and to let a coworker spray me just to let them see how it is. I am sorta glad I didnt, all that reminded me of how it was, but I am really proud of all of them.

Wow its getting really hot down here, today it was 90 and its only May, I fear as to how the summer will be. I also noticed sunscreen does not have any effect on me, no matter how much I put on I still tan and peel. I guess natives are immune to sun block. I am thinking of buying a camelpack water thingy to carry around with me so I can have water, its tough to walk around on campus and sometimes there is no immediate fountain and walking around in the buildings will rile up the locals.

The apartment hunt continues, although there are some available they are not ready for move in. I am worried I will be home less if something is not found soon.

Some events Friday have left me... lets say feeling empty, for a long while I have been living on my own and it was good, but lately I have been yearning for companionship I guess is a good way to describe it, living on my own has been a blast and its good to have things done my own way and doing things according to my own schedule, lately I have been thinking of sharing things with others. I have also been getting restless at nite, wanting to do something other than stay home, Saturday nite I TRIED to try something different. But it didnt work out exactly as I had planned. Hopefully something will come along and change.

Last week we had someone threaten the Parking Officers, I guess someone got a citation and called the office, one of our secretarys answered and he started asking wierd questions and I guess he didnt like the answers he was getting so at the end of the conversation he asked if the PO's had insurance on them, she asked why and he said he was going to find one and take one out. Scary right? The lighter side to it is the guy called on his own home phone so we got his name and phone number from the caller ID, matched that to student records and parking records and found out who the guy was, where he lived, what he drove, his parents address even his class schedule, the Captain and another officer met up with him and gave him a talking to.

The wierdest experience happened two weeks ago when I was citing near the health and social services building. I was taking pictures of a commuter student's vehicle which parked in a faculty lot when I hear a girl behind me "You should be ashamed of yourself!" I think nothing of it, having heard a lot worse from students I think nothing of it. As she gets closer I take a look and its a native, possibly not a navajo but a native, I look at her and go back to my citation telling her I am "just doing my job." She says in a sarcastic but playful tone "Im just kiddin!"
At this point I look up and they continue walking, flabbergasted, I look up at them they smile and get in their car and leave.
